According to the Met Office, the UK outlook for the latter half of August is that:
“drier and warmer than average conditions are the most probable overall. Temperatures are expected to remain widely above average for most, with further spells of very warm or perhaps even hot conditions probable, especially in the south.”
Well thank you very much, that’s me sold on the staycation idea! So, where to?
In a recent list compiled by the editors of UK Vogue, some of the top destinations for a weekend break on home soil are:
• The Cotswolds • The Scottish Highlands • The Jurassic Coast • The New Forest • The Peak District • The Forest of Dean • The Gower Peninsula • Bath • Brighton • Cornwall • Glasgow • Kent • Oxford
The Cotswolds really appeal to me, to explore the picture-perfect villages and serene countryside, and the Scottish Highlands are still most definitely on my list of ‘must-see’ places. Apparently the scenery is just breathtaking.
